By Byron Burke I was very fortunate to work closely with House Music Pioneer Marshall Jefferson and my former Ten City band members Byron Stingily and Herb Lawson from Chicago . Marshall Jefferson was the creator of the legendary house music song called “ Move Your Body ”. Marshall was a former Post Office employee and decided to become a recording artist at the age of 35. He never had instruction on how to create music, but someone told him to purchase a Yamaha QX 1 music sequencer ; Roland 707 drum machine ; Roland JX 8P keyboard and a simple mixer that could be used to hear the music coming from the musical devices. House music is one of America's original art forms, but has not been recognized as such. 2010 marks the silver anniversary of the first House music radio broadcasts in the world on WBMX 107.5 FM, Chicago . The objective of this cause is to: 1. Rally support for a nomination to the National Endowment for the Arts to have the pioneers of House music recognized. 2. Have Congress issue a resolution declaring House Music one of America's indigenous art forms. 3. Coordinate logistics for a "World Party" featuring simulcasted parties from various venues around the globe. 4. To have a day proclaimed National House Music Day.
